By December this year, CEDEX and Encode Sweden have achieved 5-year partnership since cooperation. On 1st December 2017, Mr. Cheng and Mr Liao from CEDEX, together with Mr. Michael Bogren and Mr. Mikael Johansson visited SLA Team of VCC in Jiading, Shanghai. All team members have participated in the meeting and discussed the further cooperation with CEDEX/Encode. During this meeting, several agreements have been made and both parties agreed that the annual meeting shall be scheduled for solving the problem and understanding the customer needs. SLA Team of VCC spoke highly of CEDEX/Encode’s services and showed willing to further cooperation.
On 4th-7th December, companied by representatives of SLA team of VCC, representatives of CEDEX and Encode have visited five JIS suppliers located in Chengdu. The visit has enabled them a better understanding in implementing TWIMS platform in bumper, exhaust, ABC pillar and other manufacturing process. Representatives of the CEDEX/Encode have communicated with employees of the supplier factories, the detailed communication provided them knowledges of how to modify the system and provide better and easier services for the suppliers.
By 2017,VCC has produced more than 100,000 autos in China. This success encouraged VCC continuously plan it’s global investment. According to VCC Shanghai, VCC Chareston, SC, is under construction and they have chosen around ten suppliers from China for manufacturing. Meanwhile, VCC factories in Malaysia and India are also shows their will to hose Chinese suppliers as well. VCC also announced that Clean-Energy Auto (Polestar) foundation will also located in Chengdu in following years. At that time, more than hundreds of suppliers will adopt EDI for JIT and JIS delivery. This would be a great opportunity for CEDEX/Encode and both partners have confidence in providing qualified and professional services for clients.
On August 22-23, 2017, Mr. Mingguang Cheng, CEO of Cedex made a courtesy call and a onsite visiting to Volvo Cars US plant located at Volvo Cars Dr., Ridgeville, about 40 miles North-West from Charleston International Airport and its temporary office in South Carolina Research Authority building at Summerville. Mr. Keith M. Arnold, the Supplier Logistics Assurance (SLA ) Manager, and his team welcomed Mr. Cheng and have a meeting to discuss the new requirements and the status of supplier EDI projects of all the 41 suppliers from ASAP, 32 of them located in China Mainland on August 23rd Morning.
Both parties discussed the detailed requirements and the supplier EDI implementation issues related to all the ASAP suppliers. The updated requirements are as follows:
1) From now on for all the suppliers, the EDI status must be 30 which means that all the suppliers must receive and deal with DELFOR messages automatically from Volvo Cars US plant;
2) Week 51 of 2017, the EDI status for all the suppliers must be 60 which means all the suppliers can send ASN messages to Volvo US plant via Volvo EDI Gateway in Gothenburg which must meet the new specification DESADV D07A;
3) Week 06 of 2018, the EDI status for all the suppliers must be 80 which means all the suppliers can create qualified OTL2 labels in pdf format which need to send a softcopy to HCL to pass the pdf label validation;
4) Week 19 of 2018, the EDI status for all the suppliers must be 100 which means all the suppliers can print out qualified OTL2 paper labels which need to deliver to HCL to pass the paper label validation.
At the end, Keith remarked that all the suppliers of Volvo US plant must be use full EDI, no WebEDI allowed.
27th. July, 2017- 30th, July, 2017, David Wei of CEDEX has successfully completed Volvo supplier MMOG/LE training program hold by VOLVO China in Chengdu. The certificate of training is delivery by David Pansinger, VP SQ of Asia Pacific.CEDEX and VOLVO are working closely, and CEDEX is gradually taking an significant role in MMOG/LE training program for VOLVO suppliers.
2017 May, 15-16, Odette 2017 International Conference and Exhibition was hold in Berlin, Germany. There are more than 150 automotive supply chain relatedenterprises, together with around 300 experts around the world join the conference.
The topic of Odette 2017 is “Where automotive logistics and automotive IT come together”. Based on this theme, various seminars and presentations were delivered to the audience. With globalization and informatization, supply chain management in Middle-East, Asia, Africa and South-America increasingly become an important issue. Managers from Continental Group, Michelin, and DHL as well as other important automotive manufactures and logistic service providers shared their experience in expanding business in the uprising developing countries. Meanwhile, since the unpredictable economical and political status after Brexit, and the frequent natural hazard, Automotive Supply Chain Risk Management is also a crucial issue of the conference.
CEDEX, as the mere Chinese EDI service provider join the conference, was frequently visited by different European automotive enterprises. On 28th February, 2017, National Standardization Technical Committee of Logistic held a conference in Beijing, aiming in discuss various of logistic standard proposed by leading institutions and enterprises of logistic industry. Proposed by Cedex, the project in “Transport label in automotive manufacturing” is approved by the committee as an industrial standard. This document propose the standard of label in identify the size, material, and other attributes of Product Packaging Unit (PPU) and Transport Packaging Unit (TPU). With this standard, Chinese automotive industry could reduce the costs and realize a high-efficiency logistic management.
In order to celebrate the first milestone achieved in Volvoproject, staffs of Cedex hold a memorable party on 24th Feb 2017. The achievement belongs to the cooperation between Encode Sweden and Cedex, thus both groups toasted via Skype and celebrated this remarkable moment. For providing a better service and accelerate the progress, an upgraded special-boardband will be placed between Cedex and Encode Sweden. The new special-boradband will ensure a stable and efficient connection for customers, and benefit the data transformation for JIS manufacture of Volvo. It is believed that the next cornerstone will be coming soon.

On 16th January 2017, EDIMaster Finland and Cedex signed a MOU for further business cooperation. EDIMaster Finland is a professional EDI service consulter and provider for more than 20 years. The company acts as a reseller of French Generic TradeXpress software product and being responsible for the Nordic market of the product. Their customers include TeliaSonera , UMP Kymmene and other influential entities in Finland. The mutual intention within MOU is, to start cooperation with focus on TradeXpess and service operations in China and the demand of Finland based customers in China. Edimaster is a reseller of Generix TradeXpress and has the permission of the product to be delivered to possible customers and Cedex has the local presence and the market knowledge that is required for successful sales within China.
